Journey beyond the high fence on a Polaris Ranger adventure and get the opportunity to view an impressive lineup of hoofstock species, from the elegant Kudu to the elusive Sitatunga. Including: Dama Gazelle, Grevy’s Zebra, Roan Antelope, White Elk, Blesbok, Blackbuck, Axis Deer, Gemsbok, Wildebeest, Impala and more! In addition to this sight-filled tour, enjoy a chance to feed and interact with some of these magnificent hooved animals!

Discover an unforgettable adventure where you can select three captivating animal groups to feed and engage with! Make a splash INSIDE the Hippo Pond and join mama Hedwig and her playful calf, Buckbeak as they wade the waters! Step into their world and experience the thrill of feeding and interacting with the Endangered Pygmy Hippos front row, all within the safety of our gated outdoor aquatic area! Also spend some time interacting with our other magnificent Hippos, Hagrid & Hermione.

Enjoy a unique and heartwarming opportunity to bottle-feed and snuggle with various exotic animal babies, including Kangaroos, Antelope, Muntjac Deer, and even our Baby Giraffe, Zelda! On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross over North America and will be visible in parts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It's expected to begin over the South Pacific Ocean. Mexico's Pacific Coast will be the first location to experience totality.

What Is a Total Solar Eclipse?

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sun's face completely, also known as totality. Day momentarily turns into night. Some lucky people in certain locations in the continental United States, Mexico, and Canada will be able to see the upcoming total solar eclipse, while those in some other areas of North America will experience a partial eclipse.

What to Expect During a Solar Eclipse in the Path of Totality

A total solar eclipse occurs as the moon passes between the sun and the earth, completely blocking people's view of the sun in certain parts of the world. Those viewing the total solar eclipse from locations where the moon completely covers the sun experience the total solar eclipse — known as the path of totality.

Weather permitting, viewers along the narrow path of totality also see the sun's corona, which is usually obscured by its bright face.

Stages of a Total Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse passes through the following five stages:

• Partial eclipse: Part of the moon becomes visible on the sun's disk, looking like the moon bit off a piece of the sun.

• Total eclipse: The moon covers the entire face of the sun, making it appear as if it's early morning or late evening.

• Totality and maximum eclipse: The moon covers the entire face of the sun's disk. Only the sun's corona is visible.

• Total eclipse ending: The moon gradually moves away, allowing portions of the sun to reappear.

• Partial eclipse ending: The eclipse ends when the moon completely passes the sun's disk.

Solar Eclipse Safety Tips

The only safe method for looking directly at the sun during a solar eclipse is through specialized eye protection filters, such as eclipse glasses or handheld solar eclipse viewers. Consequently, the only safe time to remove specialized eye protection filters when looking at the sun during the eclipse is during the 2-4 minutes of totality.

To safely view the 2024 eclipse:

• Inspect your solar filters before use.

• Put on the eclipse glasses, or hold a handheld solar viewer before looking at the sun.

• After viewing the solar eclipse, turn away from the sun before removing the specialized eye protection glasses or viewers. Don't remove the solar filter while staring at the sun.

• Viewers within the path of totality may remove their solar filters or eclipse glasses briefly when the moon covers the sun's face completely and suddenly gets dark. They must put the solar viewer or eclipse glass on again immediately when the sun begins to reappear.
